3 DIE IN CONCERT HORROR
Bundy High mourns the death of orchestra goers
Thursday 19 April 2001
Bundy High is today mourning the loss of three of it's best students when they were crushed to death
in a Bundy High orchestra concert. Concert goer Amy Peters recalls the terrible night:
"I got to the concert late, about 10 minutes late, but I didn't care that much, I was about to see
my favourite band, the Bundy High Orchestra, I have all their CDs! When I got inside, to my
surprise, everyone was moshing to the music! I was taken back by this, but I joined in. The crowd
was huge, about 600 people, and when the Orchestra played the opening notes of Beethoven's 9th
Symphony, the crowd went totally nuts, pushing forward, trying to get a shred of the violinist's
clothing. Then I felt a rush from behind me, everyone was being crushed from behind, some
gatecrashers who couldn't afford tickets had smashed in the front door of the assembly hall and
were attempting to get to the front of the already packed hall. At the end of the 9th (Symphony,
by Beethoven) everyone settled down, and just as the band were about to jump into a new tune, the
riot police stormed the building and apprehended the troublemakers. The band was forced off the
stage (after throwing many violin bows and sheet music into the crowd) and as I was leaving the
hall I saw the ambulance taking away 3 body bags."
The Orchestra is upset about the security at the concerts, and has cancelled the rest of it's
Australian tour. The names of the three deceased have not yet been published under request of
the families. The orchestra will release an official press release shortly.
The Unofficial Bundy High Newsletter would like to thank Amy Peters for her exclusive report.
