'CONES', 'NINJA STARS' ADDED TO CURRICULUM
Manual arts students to make illegal objects

Friday 20 July 2001

Next years Year 10 Curriculum for Shop B will include the design and manufacture of cones, ninja stars, brass knuckles and nunchucks according to a statement released by the Man. Arts department yesterday.
"We have found that around 25 percent of our students go on to a life of crime after leaving school, therefore we believe these skills will be helpful for our students in future job prospects" said Mr. Holledge, Head of the Man. Arts Department. "Students have been making these items under our noses for many years, so we may as well assess them for their efforts."

And they ought to, judging by some of the items we have found smuggled out of the shop B room. As you can see, they are intricately detailed and the students have obviously put a lot of time and effort into them.

Yup, these students have amazing talent. But wouldn't these new assessment items land them in trouble with the law?? We asked Senior Constable Mark Denny for his opinion. "Well, I'm sure I can turn a blind eye to it, as long as they don't start throwing them at me! Then there'll be trouble haha."

So what's going to happen to the old-fashioned toolbox, that they used to make in Shop B? "Well, we just don't think they have much relevance anymore," said Mr. Holledge, "Those items are usually made by machine, and sweat shop workers are most often imported from overseas. We feel this is the only way to go to give a large portion of students a secure future."

The Manual Arts department is selling the ninja stars pictured above as part of a fundraising drive after all funding was cut off by the Wilkinson Administration. "We will not have illegal activities being undertaken at this school!" yelled Mr. Wilkinson, as Mr. Weir jay-walked across the school driveway, just outside the office window.
