SCHOOL TAKING NO CHANCES
Metal detectors installed into BSHS library

Friday 31 August 2001

Eager bookworms entering Bundaberg High School's library may have noticed some slight changes to the entrance: three daunting metal detectors that will now keep a watch over trouble in the school. The metal detectors, along with a strategically placed glass wall and bookshelf, are a Wilkinson Administration response to the recent influx of crime in the library. According to Bundy High librarian Mr. Venz, the last few weeks have been a "nightmare."

"It was a cold winter morning and business was usual in the library: delinquents were searching for offensive topics on the computers, bored students were reading the 'Guinness Book of Records' and bullies were constructing instruments of torture out of a stapler, scissors and a shoelace. Then, a mysterious figure walked in through the door, wearing a motorcycle helmet. 'EVERYONE, ON THE FLOOR!' he yelled, brandishing his weapon - a pistol. He swiftly approached the desk where I was s tanding at and pointed the gun at my head. 'Give me your books!' he ordered."

The thief got away with an estimated 2000 books from the Bundy High library, an incident that the Wilkinson Administration wants never to be repeated. "With the new Early Detect TM warning system, we can automatically sense when a student or member of the public is carrying a weapon, be it a gun, knives, brass knuckles, nun-chucks, a grenade." said Principal Dave Wilkinson to The Unofficial Bundy High Newsletter today. "Upon passing through our metal detectors and into the library, any person carrying a weapon will be fired upon by a drone gun that we have installed into the ceiling of the library."

Deputy Principal Mr. Weir added "Through counterintelligence, it should be possible to pinpoint potential troublemakers and neutralize them before they exercise their potential for violence."

So, if you are thinking about breaking the law in Bundy High, the library is clearly not the place to do so...we recommend the tuckshop!
