MISUNDERSTANDING ERUPTS INTO VIOLENCE
Language barriers cause tension
Monday 30 July 2001
Many of the Japanese students have found our interpretations of their language curious or offensive a
new report states. Many of Bundy High's students have been going up to some of the students and
attempting to converse by using the words "Ching Ching Chong". While some Japanese visitors may
find this offensive, we find it encouraging that the students of Bundaberg High are attempting to
converse with our foreign friends, even if those three words aren't even in the Japanese language.
Graham Boggs-Munch told us about his encounter. "I saw the students, and realized they obviously
weren't from these parts, as they were dressed different. I don't know what it was, I think they were
dressed kind of neater, but I can't put my finger on it. I decided to go and say hello and introduce
myself. So I went up to one and bowed. I knew to do this because I have seen many Martial Arts
movies. To my surprise, the person didn't bow back. I went on, undeterred and introduced myself.
"Ching Ching Chong. Name my Graham Boggs-Munch is." I knew they couldn't understand too much
english so I thought it was best to speak in bad english myself so they could understand.
Unfortunately, she must have misunderstood me because all she did was kick me in the nads."
The Unofficial Bundy High Newsletter has heard of many happenings of the case over the
past week. Bundy High students, being their normal, friendly selves try to introduce themselves only
to face reactions of terrible violence. We asked one of the students (who spoke really good english)
why this was occuring.

Conitchiwa, or something. |
| Itaku Kojima: |
Please do not attempt to speak your incredibly poor version of the Japanese
language. |
| Unofficial BSHS Newsletter: |
Err, ok. Now, Itaku, will you please tell us why your friends erupt into violence
when some students attempt to introduce themselves? |
| Itaku Kojima: |
Simply because they use the words "Ching Ching Chong". In Japanese this
means "Greetings, whorebags" so I presume some people were offended by this. |
| Unofficial BSHS Newsletter: |
But couldn't they just explain this misinterpretation, and then everyone could
be friends? |
| Itaku Kojima: |
No, kicking people in the nads is much more fun. |
Judging by the above interview, it appears that this violence will not cease, just for the purpose of 'fun'.
Oh well, I suppose we Bundy High Students can be accused of using violence as a means of fun
