DEPUTY LOSES $3 MILLION GRANT ON RACES
Deputy Principal Trevor French gambles grant on racetrack
Thursday 15 March 2001
Bundy High has lost the $3 Million dollar grant given to it by the Queensland Government, after Deputy
Principal Trevor French gambled it on the horse races last month. Mr. French admitted to this
embarrassment yesterday, stating, "I don't know what came over me."
"My friend Alexander Frimpton gave me a hot tip last month ...("Orange Streak", Bendigo Trots, Race 7,
28 February)...and being a bit short of cash, I decided to use the school funds. Since the odds were
100:1, I thought I could increase the schools funding to 300 Million, making me a hero, but it wasn't
to be."
Other administrive staff claimed to have no knowledge of this business until it was finally discovered
this week. Deputy Principal John Weir said he was very "upset, angry and disappointed" in his colleague,
but accepted Mr. French's apologies and forgives him.
This move has brought the school back to where it stood before the announcement of the grant,
destroying Bundy High students' hopes of a decent education.
